OUR NEW MISSION STATEMENT ADOPTED APRIL 2, 2009
Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church's mission is that of Jesus Christ: the conversion of sinners and the salvation of souls.
We accomplish our mission by (A) Preaching the Gospel, (B) conferring the Sacraments, and (C) Evangelizing the World Around Us faithfully guided by the Magisterium.
Preaching the Gospel
As a church, we preach the Gospel by our words, and by how we live our lives. We use the gifts that God has given us to call others to a higher standard of living that is rooted in the Gospel and thus countercultural – a truly Catholic lifestyle that challenges the norm. Conversion literally means to turn toward the Lord, and live a holier life. (3) We teach others to do that through preaching the Gospel.
Conferring the Sacraments:
The One who truly confers the Sacraments is Jesus Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit. Bishops, priests, and deacons are ordinary ministers of the Sacraments as they act in the person of Christ. (4) However, Christ invites some to use the gifts He has given them to help those who are seeking conversion through the Sacraments. Those who are called, participate in Christ’s work by developing, preparing and administering formation programs for the Sacraments.
Evangelizing the World Around Us:
We seek to have such an enthusiasm for our Catholic faith, that in living that faith in Jesus, others are drawn to join us. (5) We open our doors and invite all people to hear the message of salvation in Jesus Christ so that they may come to participate in the fullness of the Catholic faith. (6) We use the gifts God has given us to foster gospel values in our society, promoting the sacredness of the human person, the vital importance of the family, and the common good of our society, so that others may be transformed by the saving power of Jesus Christ. COMMUNITY Angel Gift Shop
The Angel Gift Shop, first established in 1975 and operated by Lou Gellner and her team of volunteers, moved into new space in the new church this year. The shop is open after all the Masses both on weekends and during the week. Much of the proceeds, $5,000 this year, went to CETAP, the Catholic Education Tuition Assistance Program, which helps parents be able to meet the cost of tuition at St. Paul School.
Caring Hearts/Bereavement
The eleven or so members of this ministry extended support and understanding to parishioners who have experienced the death of a loved one this year.
Caring Hearts/Hospitality
There are over 25 ladies involved in this ministry, which has been active since 1993, who provided set up and food for many family gatherings either in the home or in the Parish Center after the funerals of loved ones.
Fellowship Suppers
About 60 volunteers, organized by John and Jackie Dickinson, put on these Wednesday suppers once a month during the school year. The average attendance this year was about 200 parishioners. Leftover food each week was donated to Loaves and Fishes and Appetite for Life.
Newcomers Welcoming Ministry
This ministry was formed in November 2006 and serves to greet potential new parishioners after the Sunday Masses and to mentor newly registered parishioners. This year the 12 greeters distributed over 60 information packets and the 10 mentors called on many new parishioners.

The Dedication of our New Church
The long awaited dedication of our new church was held on August 24, 2008. Witnessing this conversion of a magnificent new building into a beautiful house of God, for most everyone present, was a once in a lifetime event. The Dedication Mass was celebrated by Bishop John Ricard along with our Pastor, Fr. Doug Halsema and Parochial Vicar, Fr. Joe Fowler. There were also former priests of the parish in attendance including Msgr. George Sindik, Fr. Joe Callipare, Fr. Paul White, Fr. John Cayer, and Fr. Dominic Dat Tran.
The Building Continues
Even with the realization of the Dedication, the work on the new church building has continued. New art work that had already been on order continued to arrive. The Holy Water fonts, the Stations of the Cross and several statues are just a few examples. Even today, there is work being done within the church, beautiful final touches to walls and artwork, that were part of the original plans.
And We the Church Grow
And even as the work on the building of the new Church continues, we also continue to work on building the Church community of St. Paul. Many new worship opportunities and ministries have come into being. And more are yet to come.

All are welcome to join the Catholic Church. For those interested in joining the Catholic Church, the R.C.I.A. program meets on Wednesday evenings 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM in the School Library beginning in September. The process of welcoming new members into the Catholic Church is formally called the RCIA or the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. The R.C.I.A. is a journey for adults who are seeking faith through the Catholic community. It embodies the recognition that faith and conversion are a gradual process. Please call the Church office at (850) 434-2551 ext 131 for more information, or just come and join us for a session on Wednesday evenings.
How Does one Become a Catholic? Some people become Catholic gradually. They were baptized as infants, grew up in Catholic homes, received a religious education and gradually shared in the sacraments of the Church. Others came to the Church as adults. Sometimes they were already baptized; sometimes they had already received a religious formation in another faith. They may have been contacted by a Catholic but they probably made the first move by talking to a priest or someone else about the Church. The Church wants to welcome all those who are interested in the Catholic faith. For those who think they might like to become Catholic, the Church has the RCIA.
